4 Days of Hypnosis · what it works on

A pattern built over years
rarely leaves in an hour.

One session can show you something. Four consecutive days give you something harder to get: repetition, and a night between each session for what surfaced to settle. This page is the honest list of what people bring to those four days, and what those four days can and cannot do about it.

Before the list

Why four days, and not one?

A single session is often enough to notice something. You see the shape of the pattern. You feel the difference between following a thought and watching it. That is genuinely useful, and for some people it is all they need.

But most patterns worth working on were not built in a day. They were built by repetition, in ordinary moments, over years. Something happened, you responded a certain way, it worked well enough, and you did it again. And again. What you are left with is not a flaw. It is a well-walked path.

A path that took years to wear in is unlikely to close over in forty-five minutes.

Four consecutive days changes two things. First, repetition: you practise the same technique four times instead of hearing it once, which is the difference between being shown a skill and beginning to own it. Second, the nights. What surfaces on day one has a night to settle before day two touches it. Very often what people notice on day three is something day one opened but did not finish.

By day four the work shifts direction. It stops being about the session and starts being about what you do on the days that follow.

The honest list

What people actually bring to these four days.

These are not conditions we claim to treat. They are the situations people arrive with. Notice that most of them are not really separate problems. They are the same few mechanisms wearing different clothes.

01

Thoughts that will not stop circling

The mind returns to the same question, the same conversation, the same possible disaster. Not because thinking about it helps, but because returning has become the habit.

OverthinkingReplaying conversationsRumination Worry about the futureDecision paralysisSecond-guessing yourself Mental fogRacing mindAttention that wanders
Is the problem the thought, or the returning?
02

Feelings that arrive faster than choice

The reaction happens before you get a say in it. You know afterwards how you would rather have responded, which is exactly what makes it frustrating.

AnxietyNervousness before a specific eventAngerIrritability Specific fears and phobiasStage frightGuiltShame Emotional overwhelmFeeling numb or flatGrief you cannot put down
What happens in the second before the reaction?
03

Habits and urges that override the decision

You already decided. Then the moment came and the decision was not in the room. The work here is usually not motivation. It is the few seconds before the hand moves.

SmokingAlcoholSugar and food cravingsEmotional eating Weight-related habitsNail bitingPhone and scrolling habits PornographyMasturbationProcrastinationCompulsive checking
What does the habit give you that you have not found another way to get?
04

Sleep, and the body that will not switch off

Often the most immediate change people report, because the mechanism is close to the surface: the mind is still working at an hour when nothing can be done about anything.

Trouble falling asleepWaking at 3amRacing mind at bedtime Unrefreshing sleepTeeth grindingTension you carry physically Stress-related tightnessTrouble relaxing at all
What is your mind doing in the ten minutes before you try to sleep?
05

Confidence, and the voice that got there first

Most people do not lack ability. They have an internal commentary that was installed early, rehearsed often, and never questioned.

Self-doubtHarsh inner criticFear of being judged Public speakingInterviewsImposter feelings Difficulty saying noPeople-pleasingFear of failureFear of success
Whose voice is it, and when did you start agreeing with it?
06

Patterns that only appear around other people

You are one person alone and another in a particular relationship. The pattern is not you. It is what a specific dynamic reliably activates in you.

The same argument on repeatJealousyFear of abandonment Cannot let go of someoneTrust after being hurtReacting to a parent Conflict avoidanceLosing yourself in relationships
Which version of you shows up, and how old does it feel?
07

Performance, focus and preparing for something

Here hypnosis is used less for repair and more for rehearsal: doing the thing in your mind, carefully, before doing it in the world.

Exam nervesStudy focusSports performance A difficult conversationA presentationMotivation for a goal Building a new routinePreparing for a life change
What would it look like to walk in already having done it once?

Hypnosis has been studied for a number of these areas, including pain, some anxiety-related situations, sleep, and smoking cessation. The quality and strength of that evidence varies considerably from issue to issue, and results vary from person to person. We would rather tell you that than imply a guarantee.

Choosing between them

One session, or four days?

Neither is the upgrade of the other. They do different jobs, and the wrong one is a waste of your time and money.

A single session

When you want to see the shape of it

45 to 90 minutes, one issue, one guided experience. Best when the thing you are working on is fairly contained, or when you simply want to find out what hypnosis is actually like before committing further.

  • One specific fear or upcoming event
  • Curiosity about the experience itself
  • A first look at a pattern you have not examined before
  • You want to test the fit before going deeper

4 Days of Hypnosis

When you already know it will not go quietly

Four consecutive days on the same territory, with nights in between and self-hypnosis practice you keep afterwards. Best when the pattern is old, layered, or has already survived several attempts to change it.

  • Something you have tried to change more than once
  • A habit with years of repetition behind it
  • A pattern that shows up across several parts of your life
  • You want a practice to continue with, not only a session

How the four days move

Each day has a different job.

The shape adapts to what you bring, but the direction is consistent: from understanding the pattern, to working with it, to being able to work with it without us.

Day 1

Find the actual pattern

Not the label, the mechanism. What triggers it, what runs after the trigger, and what the pattern has been protecting or providing. Then a first guided experience of focused attention, so the rest of the week has ground to stand on.

night · notice what surfaces
Day 2

Work at the seam

Every automatic chain has a gap in it, usually between the feeling and the action. We go looking for yours and work there, with imagery, association and guided suggestion shaped around what day one revealed.

night · the work continues quietly
Day 3

Rehearse the other response

Knowing the gap exists is not the same as using it. This day is deliberate practice: the situation, the trigger, and a different response walked through until it starts to feel available rather than theoretical.

night · it begins to settle in
Day 4

Take the tool with you

You learn to guide yourself into focused attention without being led into it, so the practice does not end when the programme does. You leave with a specific method for your specific pattern, and a clear idea of what maintaining it looks like.

onward · yours to keep using

The part most pages leave out

What four days cannot do.

If you are choosing between programmes, this section is probably more useful to you than the list above.

✗

It cannot cure a medical or psychiatric condition

Hypnosis is not a treatment for illness. If what you are describing involves significant depression, psychosis, trauma symptoms, an eating disorder, or physical dependence on a substance, you need qualified medical or mental-health care, and hypnosis can at most sit alongside it. We will say so if that is what we hear.

✗

It cannot work on someone who has not chosen it

You cannot book this for a spouse who does not want it, or a child to make them more obedient. Participation is the active ingredient. Without it there is nothing for the process to work with.

✗

It cannot install a change you do not actually want

If part of you wants the habit to stay, that part will be in the room too, and pretending otherwise wastes the four days. Often the useful work is understanding what that part is holding on to, rather than trying to overrule it.

✗

It cannot promise you a specific result by a specific date

People respond very differently. Some notice a clear change within the four days, some notice it weeks later, and some notice little. Anyone offering you a guaranteed outcome is telling you something they cannot know.

✗

It cannot do the days after for you

The practice you leave with only works if it gets used. Four days can hand you a tool and show you how it fits your hand. What happens next is yours.

Is this for you

The four days probably fit if you recognise these:

  • I have tried to change this before, more than once.
  • I understand the problem perfectly and it changes nothing.
  • It shows up in more than one area of my life.
  • The reaction happens before I get a choice about it.
  • I want a practice I can keep using, not only a session.
  • I am willing to give four days to it properly.

Before you enquire, answer this for yourself:

If this pattern were gone in a month, what would be different about an ordinary Tuesday?

If the answer is specific, you are ready. If it is vague, that vagueness is worth exploring first, and a single session is the cheaper place to do it.

Straight answers

Questions people ask before booking.

Can hypnosis cure my problem?
No, and we would be careful with anyone who says it can. Hypnosis is a way of working with patterns of thought, emotion, attention and habit. Some people notice a clear change, some a small one, some none at all. The evidence base differs considerably depending on what it is being used for.
Do I need any experience with hypnosis?
None. The four days are built for people who have never done this before. You need one thing you want to work on and a willingness to participate.
Will I lose control, or say something I did not intend to?
No. You stay aware and participating throughout. You are not asleep and not under anyone's control. You decide what you share and what you keep to yourself, in a session and afterwards.
What if my issue is not on the list above?
The list is illustrative, not a menu. Describe what is happening in ordinary language when you enquire. If it is something these four days are not right for, we will tell you rather than take the booking.
Can this replace therapy or medication?
No. If you are in treatment, keep it. Hypnosis can sit alongside qualified care but should not stand in for it, and we will say so directly if what you describe needs something else first.
What if I miss one of the four days?
Tell us when you enquire and we will work out whether the sequence can be adjusted. The days build on each other, so continuity matters more here than in a single session.
How soon would I notice anything?
Honestly, it varies. Sleep and physical tension often shift earliest because the mechanism is close to the surface. Long-standing habits and emotional reactions tend to move more gradually, and often the clearest changes are noticed by people around you before you notice them yourself.
Do I have to believe in it for it to work?
You do not have to believe anything. Scepticism is fine and quite common. What matters is participation: being willing to try the thing while the doubt sits in the room with you.

The first step

Four days, and one pattern worked properly.

You do not need to understand how hypnosis works before you come. You do not need to have decided whether you believe in it. You only need to know the one thing you keep returning to.

Tell us what that is. If four days is the right shape for it, we will say so. If a single session or something else entirely would serve you better, we will say that instead.
